Space is a means of production: Climate Almanac interviews ornithologist, Dr. Charles Sontag

The Climate Almanac is an interview series that runs with our Climate Action Book Club. A book club that gives you the tools to support the community, big and small. The book we read this month was Sand County Almanac (1949) by Aldo Leopold. Before the book club, I speak with Dr. Charles Sontag, Emeritus Professor of Biology at the University of Wisconsin, Manitowoc. His 50 years of daily observations and documentation of birds is one of the longest dataset in North America. He discusses how he got into the documentation of birds through his friend, Dr. Peter Weber, when they met as 9-year-olds after Weber’s family had escaped the Holocaust. We also discuss how Leopold’s work guides his work now and as a young biologist. A fascinating talk. Co-hosted by Chas Sontag. Join our book club HERE.
